T H E A T R I C A L and then some!

While in school, in the early 80's, Galliano became a dresser for the National Theatre. He received some recognition and was given a window at Browns. In the 90's he worked for Givenchy and then onto The house of Dior. It wasn't all that easy...this is just a three sentence bio. He met with alot of resistance and struggles.

Always theatrically inspired, his designs make for exciting runway!! Fall 2009 is quite Mongolian in theme with a Russian influence. If I remember my history correctly Mongolia was a battlefield in the 20's when White Russians fled from Russia to Mongolia. Mongolia struggled for independence. Succeeded finally.

Yves Saint Laurent.....Fall 2009

The 'double platform' has risen (pun intended) in popularity and is prominent for Fall 2009. I prefer the more feminine, classic style of the patent gold and red shoe over the strappy mottled shoe. But all three are just cool.

Chanel always manages to keep it all very elegant

Sculptural footwear by Chanel with unusually sculpted and detailed heels. The pale hued sandals on the left have metal rings in the center of heel. Photo may be too small to see this defining detail.

Cesare Paciotti....oh yeah!!

I will take them in grey...or the navy. The classic pump taken several steps further...with zippers and taseels and double platforms....oh yeah!

Fendi Booties for Fall 2009

From Fendi 2009 Fall Collection.......and on my feet in Sept. These take me to the moon and back!

People are talking about the danger of platform shoes. Phewy! Shoot! I am 49 years old and I RUN in them (not as in marathon, just around town when I am in a hurry).

I have been wearing REALLY high heels since I was 18 years old and the only time I have ever taken a fall was when I was wearing running shoes and flew over a bump in the sidewalk.

Are they anymore dangerous than say flying down a slippery slope on 5 foot narrow boards that may or may not release when you fall, rollerblading, rollerskating, bicycling to work on a busy street with no bike route?

So if they give you pleasure and you can strut with a confident gait...rock on. If you can't walk in high heels, don't wear them!

Every platform shoe that I wear is comfortable. I have pretty feet, good posture and have never had back pain at all.

Devi Kroell.....always stunning

You will notice that most of my posts are all about the basic platform pump with unique twists and turns....but keeping the classic form. These are no exception....I am crazy over the mirror shards on the heels...too cool. By Devi Kroell. See more neat pics at flipgloss
