Christian Dior.....Fall 2009, rtw

A leader in fashion, French designer Christian Dior, started the house of Dior in 1947. Directly after the war, Dior designed a most opulent line that included bustiers, shapely silhouettes and full and billowing skirts. Harper Bazaar's, Carmel Snow called it the "New Look" and he was soon deemed one of the most popular French designers in history. He passed in 1957 and Yves Saint Laurent took over the House of Dior. The topfoto picture is from the 1960 collection. See the similarities in hem detailing (scroll down to last two photos in this post)

Functional, feminine, close to the body billowy, sculptural, color boldness........I like it all. Longer lengths and basic silhouettes....colored in with detailed hems, pleating, draping and sumptuous fabrics and colors. Even the shade of gray, in suit, is luxurious.

The paisley prints and use of chiffon bring to mind exotic India.

The entire collection is super elegant as in Hollywood glamor in days gone by.
